A most interesting note on the subject of everyday tax evasion was added via the proposal made by officials of the Independent Greeks Party. In particular, it is suggested that the income taxation is balanced with the expenses and taxes are imposed directly on the difference, on the basis of the American taxation system. If, for instance, a taxpayer declares an income of 20,000€ and simultaneously expenses of 20,000€, then they wouldn’t have to pay extra taxes.

 In this way, the amount of money a taxpayer would have to pay a self-employed, either lawyer, doctor or plumber and electrician becomes instantly valuable to them, therefore they would ask for a receipt so they wouldn’t pay taxes themselves.
