Deep Concern for the Prison Mafias

The Minister of Justice Nikos Paraskevopoulos has described as “justified” the rage of the correctional employees who exploded last Saturday, after the murder of 47-year-old Makis Galimanis. In this framework, the scheduled meeting of the Minister with the Association of Correctional Employees (OSYE) is to be brought forward.

The correctional employees highlighted in a statement following the murder that the correctional system has collapsed and they stress that “nothing can stop the violence and humiliation, not even the high security pseudo-prisons… We are tired of getting beaten up, spat, stabbed, threatened and bombed and anything else that goes with that”. As far as the solution of the heinous murder, the Hellenic Police of Attiki, which is conducting an investigation, still collects testimonies of fellow villagers, colleagues, acquaintances and friends of the unfortunate man who died in his car in the village Kouvela of Fthiotida last Saturday afternoon.

The 47-year-old was raked with bullets coming from a Kalasnikof and a 9 mm gun. According to the Police, the ballistics research results for the shells found at the site of the murder revealed that the guns had been used in an attempted robbery in a National Bank branch in Aspropyrgos in September 2012.
