The recent developments in the European and Greek Tax Law are to become the main theme of the conference that is hosted in Thessaloniki by the International Hellenic University and the Thessaloniki Bar Association in collaboration with the Federation of Industries of Northern Greece, the Hellenic Management Association, the Association of Post-graduate students and PhD Candidates of the Law School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the European Law Students Association (ELSA Thessaloniki). The conference takes place on Tuesday, February 24, from 6.30 p.m to 9 p.m. in the International Hellenic University facilities (Grant Amphitheatre, Thermi Thessaloniki). Free round trip by bus is provided (at 5.45 p.m.) from the centre of Thessaloniki (opposite the Ceremony Halls building of AUTH at Egnatia street).

Keynote speakers are Heidelberg Professor Dr. Ekkehart Reimer, AUTH Professor Konstantinos Finokaliotis, Dr. Apostolos Egyptiadis (Hellenic Management Association), Dr. Georgios Matsos (International Hellenic University), Ministry of Finance official Petros Koufalidis and Dr. Christos Georgiou (Federation of Industries of Northern Greece). Central issues of the conference are going to be, inter alia, tax evasion and tax avoidance in Greece, the international abolition of secrecy of bank deposits, the Greek tax reality in the years of crisis, as well as the auditory practices of the Greek tax authorities in cases of international dimensions. The event is to be coordinated by Professor Emeritus Athanasios Kaisis, member of the Administrative Committee of the International Hellenic University and scientific director of the LLM in Transnational and European Economic Law, Mediation, Arbitration & Energy Law. The admission is free, there is going to be a simultaneous interpretation from English to Greek and certificates will also be granted.
