The District Court Prosecutor Foteini Kreonidou instituted penal prosecution against anyone responsible for recurrent intentional homicide concerning the death of an old lady and her granddaughter in Thessaloniki two years ago. The death of the two women has been so far a ‘mystery’.

Finally, it was proven that they had been poisoned with a high dose of arsenic. Today the granddaughter’s husband is held as primary suspect. The 75-year-old and her 32-year-old granddaughter died a week apart, in August 2013.

During the toxicological examination high concentrations of arsenic were located. The authorities concluded that the primary and only suspect is the 41-year-old husband of the 32-year-old.

Charges were pressed and the file was dispatched to an investigator who is expected to take testimonies and personalize the charges. The motive remains so far unknown.
