Savas Xiros soon to be released

Savas Xiros, member of the terrorist group November 17th and sentenced several times to life-imprisonment, will be eligible for release since his disability percentage is over 80%. Simultaneously, high security prison of Domokos is abolished under the same bill of the Ministry of Justice.

A Ministry of Justice bill, which was announced in public and is about to be introduced to the Ministry Cabinet by Minister Nikos Paraskevopoulos, ‘clears’ the way for the release of the convicted member of 17N Savas Xiros.

Multi-injured and several times sentenced to life-imprisonment Savas Xiros will be eligible for submission to the beneficent provisions where it is stipulated that prisoners with serious health problems and high disability percentages may be released from prison. It is expressly stipulated in the provisions in question that these beneficent terms apply to prisoners sentenced to ‘life-imprisonment’ as well, and at that case ‘release is an option only when the prisoner has actually served five years and his disability percentage is 80% or more”.
